Dr. McGlamery (Mac) D.V.M. graduated from Texas A&M University in 1969 and began practicing veterinary medicine in Georgia while doing post doctoral studies in microbiology and virology at The University of Georgia. He then relocated to Florida and purchased Park Animal Hospital in June 1973 and became one of the founding owners of the Animal Emergency Clinic in St. Petersburg. Dr. Mac finds it extremely fulfilling to help clients and their pets and also enjoys the everyday challenges that arise. In his off time, he enjoys flying his plane, photography, boating and computers. Dr. Mac also has two cats, Jellyfish and Laful in his home, and many “house cats” at Park Animal Hospital.

Dr. Jim Smith, D.V.M. has been employed as an Associate Veterinarian at Park Animal Hospital since 2004. Dr. Smith graduated from Auburn University in 1965 with a degree in Veterinary Medicine. He has been practicing Veterinary Medicine for forty-two years and owned two practices of his own for thirty-one of those years. He sold both of his practices, Central Animal Hospital East and Central Animal Hospital West, in 1998. Since then Dr. Smith has been working as a Relief Veterinarian at several animal hospitals in Pinellas County. As a Veterinarian, he most enjoys performing surgeries. Dr. Smith has been an auxiliary for the Florida Highway Patrol for the past thirty-six years and enjoys scuba diving and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

Rachel McGlamery was hired November 1972 by the original hospital owner Dr. Jolley Rogers and three years later became a Certified Veterinary Technician. Rachel’s duties include: surgical prep, x-ray technician, and all of the administrative work for the hospital. Rachel’s favorite job at Park is being a surgical nurse. On her time off she enjoys being an instrument rated pilot, fishing, golfing, scuba diving, photography, raising orchids, and traveling with her husband Dr. McGlamery. Rachel and Dr. McGlamery have two cats in their home and six cats that have become our “house cats” in the hospital.

Jenny Glover has been employed at Park Animal Hospital since 1998 when she started working in the kennel after high school and has been a Veterinary Technician since 2002. She graduated in June 2006 as a Certified Veterinary Technician from St. Petersburg College Her job as a C.V.T. includes running the lab, working in radiology, assisting in anesthesia and surgery/dental and assisting in exam rooms. Jenny loves one on one patient care and is exceptional when caring for our intensive care patients. On her days off, Jenny likes to rehabilitate wildlife, and take her sheltie “Poco” for walks at the park with her husband Rob. Her animal family includes a dog and 5 cats.

Melissa O'Neal has been employed at Park Animal Hospital in the kennel and as a veterinary assistant since October 2006. As a vet assistant Melissa’s duties are to help the doctor in rooms, assist the technicians in surgery prep and in providing nursing care for patients. She is currently a senior at Tarpon Springs High School and FFA (Future Farmers of America) President. Melissa enjoys fishing, boating, riding horses, raising and showing swine and beef cattle at the Florida State Fair, and spending time with her dog “Chevy”.

Jennifer Barber started at Park Animal Hospital kennel in 2002 and is now a vet assistant. She currently attends the Veterinary Technology program at St. Petersburg College and is expected to graduate in June 2008. Jennifer’s duties as a vet assistant include helping run the lab, working in radiology, assisting in rooms and with surgical procedures and treatments. When she’s away from work and school Jennifer enjoys time with her two children, Justin and Hailey, husband Mike, and four cats. She also enjoys horseback riding, playing the violin, singing, and drawing.

Liz Steadman started volunteering at the age of twelve under her mother, Rachel McGlamery’s, supervision and was officially hired as the receptionist in 1989. She answers phones, schedules appointments, assists in exam rooms and surgery, and also assists the office manager when needed. Liz has an uncanny ability to remember client’s names, their kids, their pet’s names and even the items they wish to purchase. On her time off, Liz enjoys traveling with her husband Scott and annoying her two sons. Liz also has two dogs - her long haired shepherd Savannah and doberman Nina, and three crazy cats.

Heather Catanzaro began working in the Park Animal Hospital kennel three years ago and is now one of the friendly faces you see at the front desk. She answers your phone calls, schedules your pet’s appointments and performs administrative duties. On Heather’s time off she enjoys spending time with her daughter, Hannah. |

Shelby Davis started July 2007 in the Park Animal Hospital kennel walking, bathing and feeding dogs and cats. Shelby graduated from Dixie Hollins High School in 2007 where she was active in the FFA (Future Farmers of America) and in the Animal Awareness Club. Shelby has a dog, a cat and fish. |
